Cafe Casa is one of Harajuku's enduringly popular coffee shops, a low-key favourite that has been serving the neighbourhood for years. Tucked away on a quieter stretch of Jingumae, it offers a genuinely relaxed alternative to the area's more hyper-styled cafes, drawing a loyal following of regulars who appreciate its unpretentious charm. The menu covers all the cafe basics done well: expertly pulled espresso drinks, pour-over coffees and a selection of teas, accompanied by a tempting display of cakes, parfaits and light meals. The Japanese-style parfaits are a particular highlight, layered with seasonal fruit, custard and ice cream in generous proportions. Savoury options include sandwiches and pasta dishes that make for a satisfying midday meal. Seating is a mix of counter spots and small tables, and the atmosphere is conducive to both quiet reading and easy conversation. The cafe can fill up during weekend afternoons, but turnover is reasonably quick.
